George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals

We provide funeral services to families across Brisbane’s southside metropolitan area. We will look after every detail when the time comes to celebrate the life of a loved one as well as to provide guidance & compassion to help you farewell a loved one.

George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals is Brisbane’s leading funeral provider with 14 funeral homes in and around Brisbane, Redland City, Logan City and Moreton Bay. The company was created in 2017 after the merging of two of Brisbane’s most trusted and experienced funeral homes – George Hartnett Funerals and Metropolitan Funerals. Together they bring more than 145 years of funeral experience with both providers having been in business since the 1940s. We provide education and information to care facilities including nursing homes, hospitals and community support groups. And each branch in our network has developed unique and key relationships with businesses in their local community and their relevant councils, chambers of commerce and not-for-profit groups. We are proud to boast a team of skilled and professional people who are passionate about the role they play in guiding a family through the death of a loved one. Our team specialise in listening to the family’s needs and values, understanding their emotions, and getting to know the person who is now gone. Our funeral directors are an enduring source of knowledge for the community, providing guidance and compassion to help you arrange a fitting farewell for your loved one. They promise to dedicate themselves to helping you share and honour the memories that truly matter.

Toni Boydston (Mt Gravatt)

I commenced with Metropolitan Funerals in 2000 and I have had the privilege to work in the management role since 2001. Now we have merged with George Hartnett Funerals our professional team has grown.  What I enjoy about my role is supporting my team and seeing them develop into professional caring Funeral Directors. It is an honour to be involved with families in preparing and providing the farewell service they wish for their loved one. My network and community involvement commitments are varied and an enjoyable part of my role. I am part of a Community Forum made up of local businesses to prevent Domestic Violence, in conjunction with Joe Kelly our local Member of Parliament. This connection has lead our branch to be able to support a new group called Beyond DV helping women and children regain their lives and self-worth. The Southside Chamber of Commerce actively promotes our business and I enjoy my involvement with this group. On a personal level I have an interest in the prevention of suicide. I attend and support the Griffith University Suicide research department when they hold courses and events for awareness. The QLD Homicide Victims Support Group is also an organization that I have a passion in helping. As a company we donate flowers, catering and booklets to their Annual Memorial Service. In my spare time I enjoy time with my husband who happens to work at Mt Thompson Crematorium in a role he thoroughly enjoys. We like to travel, go to music concerts with friends usually involving 80's music and try new restaurants.
